Turn in Neko-ashi-dachi

1) Begin in neko-ashi-dachi (cat stance) with right foot forward.

2) Lead with the eyes and head by looking first over the left shoulder.

3) Keeping the heel of the forward (right) foot up, shift the weight pivoting on the metatarsal and moving the heel to the outside. Let the heel come to the floor with the foot in a 45° angle to the “new” direction of the turn.

The rear (left) foot pushes gently off, shifting the weight to the forward (right) foot as the torso turns, and then “steps out” again in the “new” direction to the rear. This new direction becomes “forward” and the left foot takes up its correct forward position for neko-ashi-dachi.
