Gorindo Summer Camp 2016!!!
This was another landmark Gorindo Summer Camp!
Once again great weather for camping in Nature gave us the best frame to train, teach, learn, laugh, and create more wonderful shared memories!
The occasion also turned special due to the presentation of the certificates of Nidan 2nd Degree Black Belt for Joe Pach and Shichidan 7th Degree Black Belt for Claudio Iedwab. Congratulations also to James Peters 1st Kyu, and Larry Spears 8th Kyu!
Looking forward for the 2017 edition!!!

Gorindo Outdoors
Today I am initiating "EQUINOX 365", a full year of practice in the great outdoors. The weather will be my teacher and guide to my next personal plateau of learning, training and new experiences. I plan to record the journey in a personal way. Also to extract some visual segments and writing reflections from my daily steps through the year. Whatever format, manner or results, I hope to fine tune my self, not necessarily in the technical aspects of Gorindo but more like in the the inner exploration of being open to the experience, as part of the preparation for my 7th Dan.

Gorindo Grading
It's time for vacations but student at Gorindo are still training hard.
A group of keen colour belts participated in a grading on July 6th in Ottawa. Good energy, precise technique, extra effort and sweat produced a great result.
The bes part was the synchrony of timing and orm in the various kata pairings.
Thank-you to everyone for their hard work and dedication to the practice of Gorindo.

Visit of Maestro Vicente Nogueroles
Once again, we have had the honour and great pleasure of enjoying an unforgettable visit of Maestro Vicente Nogueroles from Argentina.
His last visit to our dojo in Toronto was back in 1993 and although almost a decade has passed, the spirit of camaraderie and reception for his teachings are stronger than ever.
His son Andrés Nogueroles was also with us and together we visited and enjoyed Ottawa, while learning about Canada’s people, its inspiring culture and rich history.
In the dojo, we didn’t stop absorbing Nogueroles Sensei’s vast knowledge and international experience of fifty years of Judo! Certainly we will continue practicing the very well received material as we did with his previous visits.
Adaptability, control, and willingness to practice and improve what we learn were the common denominator among all the students, both beginners and seniors.
We are definitively looking forward for more of his future visits and of course thinking to add into our School agenda a training trip to Argentina someday.

Sensei Claudio Graduates Again...
The Argentinean Judo Confederation has recently awarded Sensei Claudio a first Dan Black Belt in Judo. Some of you know that Sensei contributed two chapters and edited and designed the book ‘JUDO Arte & Técnica’ by Sensei Vicente Nogueroles of Argentina. This book is now being distributed widely within the International Judo Federation country members as an official History and Textbook. It has been adopted by the Kodokan’s library in Japan and Sensei Claudio and Roxanne will be working on the English translation which will broaden it's reach internationally.
Symbolically, Claudio Iedwab sensei is receiving from the hands of my students Roxanne sensei and Joe Pach sempai in Ottawa, the Judo Black Belt Diploma from the Judo Argentinean Confederation.

It is with great pleasure and gratitude that I write to the Argentina Judo Committee to thank you for the recognition of receiving a Black Belt Certificate in Judo. in my long career of Martial Art study and teaching I often recall my first days as a young judoka and how my eyes were opened to the history, effort and thinking involved in the training.
It was an inspiration to assist my friend and esteemed colleague Vicente Nogueroles Sensei in the preparation of his book “Judo - Arte & Técnica”. The discussions about practice, philosophy and communication were vigorous and detailed and I learned so much from my participation. He is a great teacher and judge and his deep love and respect for Judo is such that I feel honoured to receive his approval and that of the Association for my Shodan award.

Gorindo Food Donation...
Roxanne sensei delivers the Gorindo food donation to helpers at the Dalhousie Food Bank which is housed in the same building where we train. The food was donated by participants of the ‘Kihon in the Park’ Event.

KIHON in the Park
The wind really tried to put Fall on the Map with the first cold day of the season but it didn't scare an small but intrepid group of Gorindoka. With a few drops falling we bundled up and enjoyed the leaves just starting to change and the (really) fresh air as we moved back and forth across the (still) green lawn at Dow's Lake. Good Kihon (basics) with some Kata snuck in for good measure...
